It's been almost three weeks since I arrived in London, and I can hardly believe it. Time feels like it's flying, and this has been my first full week of classes. With the pace of life here, I’ve developed a small ritual that’s been grounding me—something I call my "weekly self-care routine." It’s simple but impactful, and I wanted to share it.
The routine starts with cleaning. I’ve got this cozy little room at Goodenough, and it’s important to me that it feels organized. So, each week, I clean my room, the bathroom, and do my laundry. There’s something calming about folding clean clothes and putting them away. After that, I plan my meals for the week. Sometimes I cook for myself, sometimes I treat myself to something special. It’s these little acts of care that make the week feel intentional.
Personal hygiene is a big part of this as well. I’ve got this amazing electric water flosser—a gift that has worked wonders for my dental hygiene. I take the time to trim my beard, shave, and then treat myself to a long, relaxing shower. Honestly, a good head bath can change your day!
Then comes the food. The first week, I went out for a nice Indian meal. The second week, we made dal, chawal, and potato fry. Tomorrow, it’s going to be paneer biryani. The ritual of making or enjoying a meal that feels familiar brings a sense of comfort in this new environment.

But the highlight of my routine is what I call my "self-date." After everything is cleaned, the meals are sorted, and I feel refreshed, I take a walk to Russell Square Park, just me, no devices. It’s my time to disconnect from everything. Sometimes I carry a diary to jot down thoughts. I stop at Tesco, pick up a drink, and then I just sit in the park.

I spend one to two hours there, reflecting on the week—what went well, what didn’t, what challenges I’m facing. It’s a quiet time to check in with myself, to think deeply and breathe. I also love watching people—seeing families having picnics, people walking their dogs, or just enjoying time with their loved ones. It’s peaceful and a good reminder that there’s so much life happening all around.
This routine has become an important part of how I recharge. By the end of it, I feel like I’ve closed the week on a good note, ready to take on whatever comes next. Over time, I’ll probably add more to this ritual, but for now, these small acts of self-care have been enough. It’s my way of making sure that I stay connected to myself, and I think that’s something we all need to do—find time to check in, take care of ourselves, and reflect.
