Hey everyone, here I am, writing about Day 3 of my time in London. A lot of people had reached out asking when I would share this, and to be honest, it’s taken me a while. I wanted to take it slow yesterday—a bit of a lazy day to chill, reflect, and absorb all that’s happening around me. Still, even on a slow day, there are thoughts worth sharing.
The morning kicked off with a bit of work. One thing I’ve realized is how important it is to squeeze in work wherever I can. Running EdZola from a distance is definitely going to be an adjustment, but every little task that gets done keeps me connected to the mission. After that, I had my LSE orientation webinar, and that brought up some powerful reflections.
One line from the Dean really stuck with me: “Be open to challenging your perspectives at LSE.” LSE is incredibly diverse, with students from over 150 countries, each bringing their unique experiences and cultures. It’s incredible to think about how much we’ll all grow from this shared exchange of perspectives. It reminded me of something I’m always striving for in my own work: fostering diverse voices and making space for new ideas.
The Dean also said something along the lines of, “Find who you are and who you want to be at LSE.” Now, I’m not going to lie—self-exploration is a lifelong pursuit, but hearing this from such an institution gives me the sense that this year is going to be a pivotal one.
In the afternoon, I took some time to explore. We headed to Trafalgar Square, one of London’s most iconic spots. It’s this amazing historic landmark that now doubles as a bustling tourist destination. There’s so much to take in—the towering Nelson’s Column, the stunning fountains, and the bustling crowds from all over the world. Apparently, Trafalgar Square becomes a vibrant hub during festivals like Diwali and Christmas, hosting events, movie screenings, and more. It’s a melting pot of history, culture, and modern life, and I can see why it’s such a hotspot. I cannot help draw a comparison on how the names here are similar to the one in Ooty (back home) - Wellington , Charing Cross, etc!
After strolling around, I got back and joined a welcome meet-up at Goodenough College. There’s something so energizing about these gatherings—especially when I wore my EdZola hoodie and sparked some interesting conversations about the work we do. I had a lot of people curious about EdZola and the impact we’re making back in India. It was a moment of pride, and honestly, it’s exciting to think about how this move to London could help take EdZola global.
Oh, and on the personal front—today was marked by a small joy: I made my first filter coffee in London. No offense to the cappuccinos here, but there’s something about filter coffee that just hits differently! It’s the taste of home, and having it here made me feel more grounded amidst all the change.
So, that’s Day 3 in a nutshell. It’s a mix of settling in, exploring, and finding small pockets of joy in the unfamiliar. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings!
